Financial Management Training Workshop for DSCA a Success!

Friday, July 15, 2011

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) and Wedgewood Group wrapped the 2nd iteration of “Security Cooperation Funding – The People, Processes and Programs”. Held in the DC area July 11th – 14th the program attracted attendees from across the Defense spectrum: Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, as well as DSCA.

The DSCA mission is a critical and high profile one, supporting US Government policies for security cooperation and security assistance for foreign partner nations. Recently there has been an influx of new programs and funding that came with complex and specific procedures that impact many branches of the DoD. After extensive analysis with the Wedgewood team, a specific targeted array of education and training events were identified as vital to the SC/SA community and needed to be developed and delivered with DSCA in support of DoD missions specifically and wider interests of the US Government abroad.

The first “beta” class debuted at Wright Patterson AFB in January of 2011 and the feedback from that program helped DSCA and Wedgewood develop the current cornerstone course. The interested level is so high for this material that wait listed candidates would have filled another 1.5 classes in July.

The next offering of the SCF program will be held in Washington DC November 28th – December 1st , 2011. Please contact Wedgewood Group for additional details at 703.229.0780.

The Wedgewoodian Arrives – Our New Blog

Tuesday, July 05, 2011

Wedgewood Group is proud to announce the start of its blog.

Today we live in an era where trust and credibility are determined and earned before, during and after services are provided, rather than strictly after. A good consulting firm knows how important it is to not only practice what they preach but believe in the tools and techniques they espouse. As a firm we are strong advocates of transparency and clear communication. This latest effort is just the next crucial and natural step toward showing not just our existing clients but our future clients and the rest of the world who we are, what we stand for and what we have to offer. We promise to bring you honest, relevant postings that add to the way you think about your work and your professional priorities.

In some companies a blog is something they do because everyone else is doing it. Let’s face it, not all blogs are worth reading and not all companies really understand “this whole blog thing.” For us, starting a blog made sense because we have something to say and we want you to listen. So take some time, when you can, and explore our blog. We’re just getting started so there aren’t a lot of posts yet, but give it time and that will change.

So please, feel free to comment on our blog and also to suggest topics. As we grow our blogging community our readers will drive our content. Tell us what you want to hear about. Ask questions. Get engaged. Because this is not a magazine article and it’s not a book. It’s a conversation and we want you to be a part of it. We look forward to hearing from you.

Monday, May 16, 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It’s here! Welcome to Wedgewood Group’s newly designed and totally re-imagined website. While we want to be judged by the quality of our work and loyalty of our clients, we recognize that no organization today can afford not to keep up a strong public face. With this in mind Wedgewood Group decided it was time to change the way we represented ourselves on the internet.

From inception, this project has been nurtured and lead by our Information Technology practice area.  Working in conjunction with Wedgewood Group’s Strategic Communication team, their hard work, time and energy invested in this project are clear to see in the results they achieved.

The launch of our new website is the first chapter in a conversation aimed at identifying and addressing some common management obstacles we have encountered in our work with the government, nonprofit, and private sectors.  The site will introduce new topics regularly and we invite visitors to participate and share their own experiences.  We encourage you if you have not done so already to look around the site. We especially encourage you to look at our case studies, white papers and service offerings.

Dr. Patrick Leddin, PMP, releases his new book

Monday, May 09, 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Great news for all of you who have been eagerly awaiting its release and asking when it would be published. Dr. Patrick Leddin, PMP, the Managing Director of Wedgewood Group has released his new book, Embracing Excellence in the Public Sector: Five Steps Leading Government Teams to Top Results. It is now available for purchase in soft-cover and Kindle on Amazon.com.

Embracing Excellence is the story of Susan Walker and her team.  Similar to many teams throughout the public sector, they struggle with tying their organization’s strategic goals to their team’s top priorities. They find a disconnect exists between what their leadership expects of them and what their daily work requires of them. This is the story of how Susan, her team and her colleagues found new hope by putting systems in place that brought them from struggling to get through the day to ensuring both long- and short-term success.

Along the way they meet Oliver Stanton – a man who proves without a doubt that appearances can be deceiving and that you should never judge a book by its cover. In a series of informal meetings with Oliver, Susan and her team discover a new way to approach their work and the tools to make their plans come to fruition.  Oliver’s teaching unleashes a passion for their work that Susan and her team had lost.

The approach Oliver imparts to them is the real-life product of Patrick Leddin’s twenty plus years of experience leading teams through the development and implementation of strategy at all levels of the organization.  The real version of this Team Planning and Execution experience is made available to Wedgewood Group’s clients. If you would like to experience the kind of results Susan does click here and let us know what we can do to help you get your organization on its way to embracing excellence or call us at 703.229.0780.
